Full title: Her Royal Highness The Princess Charles Philip Arthur George, Princess of Wales, Duchess of Cornwall, Duchess of Rothesay, Countess of Chester, Countess of Carrick, Baroness of Renfrew, Lady of the Isles, Princess of Scotland, Dame Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order

Known as: Her Royal Highness Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall

Name at birth: Miss Camilla Shand

Date of birth:17/07/1947

Did you know?... Out of respect for the late Diana, Princess of Wales, Camilla will be known as the Princess Consort not the Queen, if and when her husband, the Prince of Wales, becomes King

Camilla was born in London and grew up in East Sussex and London. Her childhood was typical of the upper classes at that time, and she attended boarding school, and finishing school in Switzerland. She also studied in Paris for some time. Camilla was a debutante in London, and shared a flat with a friend in London, working as a secretary and receptionist for a few different firms. During the year 1971 she met the Prince of Wales, and the two of them began a relationship. However, the Prince was sent away on naval duties, and when he returned, Camilla was engaged and married to Andrew Parker-Bowles, a man she had known before she met Charles, and had an on-and-off-again relationship with for years. The couple had two children, and now the Duchess has 5 grandchildren.

Andrew Parker-Bowles and Camilla divorced in 1995. Camilla and Prince Charles had remained friends throughout both of their marriages, and rekindled their romance. They married in 2005 at a civil marriage at Windsor Town Hall, and a blessing later on at St George’s Chapel Windsor. As a member of the royal family, the Duchess represents the Queen, and accompanies the Prince of Wales on many official tours and events. The Duchess is patron of many different charities and organisations, and carries out solo engagements. The focus of her work includes literacy, osteoporosis, victims of abuse, and animal charities.
