Buckingham Palace released this announcement, "Prince and Princess Michael of Kent are delighted to announce the engagement of their daughter Lady Gabriella Windsor to Mr Thomas Kingston. The engagement took place in August; Mr Kingston proposed on the Isle of Sark."
Lady Gabriella, known as, ‘Ella,’ to friends and family is the daughter of the Queen’s cousin Prince Michael of Kent, and his wife, Princess Michael of Kent. Princess Michael, born Baroness Marie Christine von Reibnitz, married Prince Michael in 1976. She had previously been married before, but the pope annulled the marriage; Princess Michael is Catholic, so therefore Prince Michael had to renounce his claim on the throne, as the royals cannot marry those who are not members of the Church of England, because the monarch is Head of the Church of England, if they wish to remain in line for the throne. Lady Gabriella has an elder brother, Lord Frederick Windsor, who is married to Sophie Winkleman. They have two children.
Lady Gabriella, 37, was educated at the University of Oxford, attaining an MPhil degree in Social Anthropology. Lady Gabriella is senior director at Branding Latin America, a brand-positioning platform that specializes in the region. She is also a writer, and contributes to The London Magazine.
Thomas, ‘Tom,’ Kingston works in frontier market investment and is a director of Devonport Capital. They have been together for three years. Tom previously dated Pippa Middleton, sister of the Duchess of Cambridge, and they remain good friends, with both Lady Gabriella and Tom attending Pippa’s wedding to James Matthews last year.
Lady Gabriella attends family occasions but was not at the Sussex’s wedding in May. She is not a working royal.
I wish the couple all the happiness in the world, and a strong and blessed marriage.
